Instructor Morgan Frank
- Kung Fu Instructor
- 2nd Degree Black Sash in Kung Fu
In Grandmaster Gohring's words:
Instructor Morgan Frank discovered Master Gohring’s Tai Chi and Kung Fu in early 2016 when searching for a local school to learn from. She had been interested in martial arts since she was young, and was especially intrigued by Hung Gar style kung fu, which is the style earthbending is based on in Avatar: The Last Airbender. She was looking for a challenging and mentally engaging way to exercise after work, and quickly became fascinated with the wide variety of new things to learn, from sparring and self defense to advanced weapons forms.
In order to further develop her techniques, Instructor Frank joined the Apprentice teacher training program shortly before earning her first degree black sash in late 2018. She continued to train in first-degree black sash classes, learning new styles such as Chen and Ba Fa and new forms such as Tai Chi saber and straight sword, while studying how to become an instructor under Grandmaster Gohring. She went on to earn her second degree black sash and Assistant Instructor certification in 2021.
Instructor Frank began to teach beginner kung fu as an Assistant Instructor. Ms. Frank graduated to full Instructor in 2023, and now shares teaching the evening beginner classes with Instructor Hogan. She has found guiding new students in the foundational movements of kung fu to not only be rewarding in itself, but an excellent opportunity to further develop her own understanding of the art.
Instructor Frank’s teaching philosophy is that the strongest opponent you will ever face is the one in the mirror. By approaching martial arts training, as all things, with curiosity and positivity, you will find there is always something new to learn every day, in every class, that will help you grow on your journey to self-mastery.
