DO:
1. Meet and greet your fellow students. Always say hello to new people with a happy face and ask if they are training here.
2. Memorize the Student Creed.
3. Bow each time you enter and exit the practice area as a show of respect for your instructors, fellow students and the place where we build our character and strength.
4. Bow before addressing instructors or other students who have achieved Black Sash rank. This is to show respect and also to help develop one very important trait: HUMBLENESS.
5. Be punctual in attendance. You are welcome to come up to 15 minutes early to warm-up.
6. Remove your shoes before entering the workout area unless you are wearing the approved T'ai Chi or Kung Fu shoes.
7. Address your instructors and all Black Sashes as "Sir" or "Ma'am."
8. Pay close attention in every class and focus your attention and concentration as directed by your instructor. Keep your eyes on the instructor's eyes during all instruction
9. Be considerate and well behaved. Adult students are expected to set a good example for junior students. Advanced students are expected to set a good example to new students and to help them whenever necessary.
10. Share your talents with fellow students and be a friend.
11. Ask for help, communicate your needs with instructors and advanced students; we're always happy to help. Always speak in a LOW VOICE while a class is in session. Move conversation outside. Never speak while you are training unless you wish to ask a question.
12. Trim all toenails and fingernails to ensure safety in your partner drills. Wear clean fresh uniforms and clean sport socks on fresh bodies as a courtesy to the other students. Wash your feet before class.
13. Only wear a fresh, clean uniform for ALL TESTING.
14. Bring your required Tiger Claw Brand safety equipment to every class (if you're a Kung Fu student). Put your name on every piece of school equipment and on your school equipment bag.
15. Line up by height not rank and show self-discipline in line up procedure.
16. Attend classes at your scheduled times. Practice between classes what you have learned in order to stay on track for your next class and next rank.
17. Report to Instructor when unable to attend scheduled class for longer than one week. For periods of absence over 30 days, ask about our FREEZE POLICY, so you don't lose time.
18. Take pride in your school by keeping it neat, clean, and presentable. Last class of the evening helps close down the school.
19. Ask before you act if in doubt about policy.
20. Keep a positive mental attitude at all times with yourself, your Instructor, and your fellow students.
21. SMILE!! It takes less muscles than frowning and people wonder what you are thinking.
DO NOT:
1. Do not run, play, talk loud, use profanity or display rowdy, distracting behavior.
2. Do not chew gum in class because you could choke.
3. Do not free spar without protective equipment and instructor's permission.
4. Do not wear hats, caps, or other head coverings in workout area. Thank you.
5. Do not wear shoes in the workout area unless they are the approved T'ai Chi or Kung Fu shoes.
6. Do not leave personal equipment in studio over night.
7. Do not leave handouts in studio.
8. No Smoking in or near the School. (At least 75 feet away)
9. No food or drinks allowed in the training area. (Drinks in unbreakable sealed containers, o.k.)
10. Do not leave personal items in dressing room. Instead, put in your school bag and bring into workout area and/or place them under the benches or on the border of room near your practice area.
