Instructor Rebecca Kelly
- Kung Fu Instructor
- 2nd Degree Black Sash in Kung Fu
In Grandmaster Gohring's words:
Rebecca Kelly started her Kung Fu journey the summer of 2016. Having dabbled in many sports and physical activities throughout college and after graduation, Instructor Kelly enjoys the structure of Hungar Tiger-Crane Kung Fu.
After a year of regularly attending classes, Instructor Kelly decided to pre-pay and commit to several years of classes. She hasn't looked back since. In 2018, Ms Kelly joined teacher training. When the pandemic hit, she took over the 4:30 beginner class to help keep the staff separate should anyone fall ill. Shortly after, she became an Assistant Instructor. In 2021, Ms Kelly earned her second degree black sash and became a certified Instructor.
In addition to teaching at Master Gohring's Tai Chi and Kung Fu, Ms Kelly has her Bachelor's degree in Communication Science and Disorders from Florida State University and Associate degree in American Sign Language Interpreting from Austin Community College. Her ultimate goal is to teach classes in ASL for Deaf and HoH children. Since she was a teenager, Ms Kelly has worked with kids, including working at Lamar Middle school for 2 years following the completion of her bachelor's degree.
Ms Kelly is one of the lead teachers of the Martial Arts Birthday parties that take place at the school every Saturday. Ms Kelly enjoys introducing new prospective students to our Kung Fu practice and, of course, watching the birthday kid cut their cake with a samurai sword.
