Birthday Party Guidelines

1. CAKE: Get ready to have an AWESOME FUN PARTY! Be sure to bring a cake suitable for cutting in half with a Samurai sword. Sheet cake works best. (A cup cake, an ice cream cake and a cake with fondant are challenging to cut.)

2. DEPOSIT: A deposit of $100 is needed to secure your preferred date and time. Cancellation of the birthday party must be done at least 14 days in advance to have your deposit refunded. No fee to reschedule. No fee if we are the ones that need to have it rescheduled.

3. INVITATIONS: You should email invitations 2-3 weeks ahead of the party. Be sure to invite me (master@mastergohring.com) as an added precaution to confirm all the dates and times are correct. You may have to send me the link directly.

4. WAIVER: The online Activity Waiver link is: https://mastergohring.com/activitywaiver. The online Activity Waiver must be filled out by the parent or guardian for each child who will participate at the party. Include this link when you send your invitations. Please also have aunt, uncles, grandparents fill out the waiver form for themselves so that they are available to pair with your child or other children during the kung fu class portion of the party.

4a. There is no option to opt out of doing online Activity Waivers.

4b. There is an additional $50-$100 fee and possible shortening of the party duration if we do not have most of the waivers completed before the Saturday of the party.

4c. All the activity waivers must be completed a week before the party. If we haven't received most online activity waivers by the Wednesday before your party then your party will be cancelled.

4d. Yes, everyone including grandparents that you "don't think need to fill one out because they will just be watching," need to fill out the waiver. This is because we do not have a separate viewing area. Everyone will be on the regular training floor near potentially dangerous weapons and activities.

5. PARTY DURATION: The party is 75 minutes plus 30 minutes before for arrivals and 15 minutes after for clean-up.

6. EXTRA FOOD EXTRA DECORATIONS: Birthday child’s family may set up extra decorations and/or extra food and drinks. (Optional)

7. STARTING ON TIME: To keep your party running efficiently we must start your party on time. Please be aware that another child's birthday party may be finishing as you arrive and another arriving as you leave. We typically have three parties in a row every Saturday. Please inform your guests to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled start time. You should arrive 30 minutes before start time.

8. ONE PARENT MUST STAY: At least one parent (or guardian) of each child attending must be present as parents will participate in the martial arts class portion of the party and each child will need an adult partner to hold the thunder paper for striking.

9. PERSONAL ITEMS: The staff of Master Gohring's Tai Chi & Kung Fu school will show the kids where personal items go. To ensure a clean learning environment please keep all personal items (shoes, socks, toys.) in the designated area at all times. We are not responsible for missing or lost items.

10. PRESENTS: Presents for the birthday child can be set in a special area and the staff will be happy to help you load them in your car at the end of the party.

11. PIZZA: The 30-inch pizza is either cheese or pepperoni or half and half. No substitutions. Typically if the birthday child has dietary restrictions, parents will bring an additional small pizza or other item for their child. The 30-inch pizza is usually made and delivered by Arpeggio Grill and is usually cut in small squares and serves 15-25 children. If you want enough for parents too you can add a second one (see a la carte section for pricing) but for parties of less than 15 children there is usually enough for the parents that want some. Come hungry. Pizza is served about 15 minutes into the party.

12. GOODIE BAGS: The goodie bags' content will vary. Typically the bags contains an assortment of the following: a Chinese yo-yo, ninja stickers, ninja figurines, ninja slap bracelet, other stickers, small slinky, Chinese finger torture toy, smiley face drum, etc. The bags are typically closed with a thank you note so adding items won't be possible. Some parents opt to bring their own goodie bags, instead of using ours, especially if they are bringing their own themed extra decorations.

13. VIDEOS: Encourage multiple family members to record videos on their mobile devices. The "must get" videos are: your child and friends playing the final round of 36 chambers game (10-15 minutes into the party), your child breaking their board (40-45 minutes into the party), your child cutting their cake (50-60 minutes into the party).

14. KICK BUTT COFFEE: Once parents are checked in and have their name tag on, parents are welcome to come and go between Kick Butt Coffee and Master Gohring's Tai Chi & Kung Fu. Parents have the option of purchasing beverages (non-alcoholic or alcoholic) and to bring back and enjoy during the party.

15. CONFLICT: There is a chance, however rare, that a loud event might be booked next door at Kick Butt that wasn't booked at the time we confirmed your party. This means we would need to reschedule your party because these loud events (like punk/metal shows) would be too disruptive to a birthday party. This scheduling conflict has only happened once, ever. We notified the party parents three weeks in advance and were able to rescheduled. Please be patient and understanding and work with us if it does happen.

16. TIPS: Your party staff will graciously accept tips for service of a job well done. The party leader divides 100% of any tips to the student helpers. This is an optional courtesy and historically ranges from as low as $20 to over $100. It is up to you. (Optional)
